Northwest Motor Service Areas of Expertise
Northwest Motor Sales & Service is a future-focused organization with an emphasis on uptime and reliability. We offer engineered solutions to your complex motor and drive systems. We provide a complete package of predictive and preventative services including vibration analysis, AWA and PdMA motor testing, laser alignments, base/foundation modifications, synchronous exciter upgrades and much, much more.
Our Longview factory is brand new (2017) and features 40T crane capacity, an 8′ VPI system, dynamometer and other equipment to provide our customers with consistent and reliable repairs.
Service
Our standard testing includes Resistance, Meg-Ohm, Polarization Index (PI), Step Voltage, and a Surge Test. These tests, used together, offer a maintenance professional a complete analysis of electric motor insulation. We use SKF (Baker) AWA and PdMA test equipment depending on customer preference.
Our dynamic motor test equipment is capable of separating electrical issues from mechanical issues as well as defining power-related problem areas. We will provide valuable information regarding incoming power, voltage levels, imbalances and harmonic content. Single occurrence or trending overtime is available.

Cold Jet dry ice blast cleaning provides a non-conductive, environmentally responsible cleaning process that allows equipment to be cleaned in-place, without cool down or disassembly. In addition, the outage time typically needed for cleaning can be reduced up to 65%.
Applications include:
- Turbines
- Compressors & Generators
- Substation Isolators & Bushings
- AC/DC Motor Cleaning
- Circuit Breakers
- Switch Gears
- Transformers
- Rotors Stators
- Insulators
- Armature
- Field Frames
PCIC Paper No. PCIC-2005-9 stated that a 50% reduction in vibration levels increased motor life by approximately 2.2X! Dynamic balancing not only reduces vibration levels, but also:
- Reduces Noise
- Increases equipment performance
- Extends motor and driven equipment life
- Increases equipment safety
Northwest Motor Service’s field services team is highly skilled in balancing fans, pumps and other rotating equipment in the field.
Precision Installations are a requirement of all motor manufacturers and service centers to maintain the warranties provided with product purchase. Too often, the installations are not performed and documented to factory standards, leaving our customers liable for repairs when they arise during the warranty period. We have a solution!
Whether you are on the North Slope of Alaska or in Southern California, our field services team can perform Precision Installations for our customers and provide the documentation that is required. This includes removal of the existing equipment, installations, alignment (hot and cold!), and startup assistance. When this service is purchased with the repair or sale of a new motor, pump or VFD, Northwest Motor Service will extend the warranty. This includes both new and repaired equipment. If you are already paying a contractor, you should consider our team to assist with your motor and equipment installations. Pricing varies by location and size of equipment – contact us for more information.
Using Baker AWA and PdMA testing equipment, we perform testing and troubleshooting of your plant’s motors. Our talented service team is certified by the manufacturer to provide prompt, technically appropriate service. We are available 24/7 for emergency calls.
